Although
Dave is two years younger and we grew up far apart and did
not know of each other until the Vietnam War, it is very
coincidental that both Dave and I were interested in weather,
we both learned to fly, we were both in Signals in Vietnam,
we have both been certified as PTSD patients and we both
like to travel.
One
major difference is that I inspired Dave to write a book
and he did and what an impelling story it is. Like a lot
of books Ice Journey is hard to put down, it has been told
from the heart right down to toilet training when dressed
as Dave is above.
I'm
sure everyone of us has wondered how Astronauts get on when
they need to go to visit the little reading room. But Dave
takes you through two ways of doing it and when dressed
as an eskymo.
Modern technology can be wonderful when used in the right
place. The phone is taken for granted now. Internet the
same, if it is not working we've had a death in the family,
we can't live without it. Vietnam brought out the good and
the bad, but all Operators Radio as they were called were
most efficient in their profession and without the OR the
troops on the ground didn't get the Dustoff when required,
artillery support, air support, food, water and ammunicion
resupplies and the OR provided a link to base, to Head Quarters
and troops on the ground.
When this website was started Dave Emailed me with the daily
doings, thus it became an electronic diary and this website. |
